I really like Rumors and have been coming to the location since it was Mattys. Their drinks are very reasonable, their happy hour is until 9, and the atmosphere is chill. They have also expanded into an outside area which will probably be GREAT to hang out at during Pride. Almost everytime I come during an event, usually Halloween and Stonewall, I enjoy hanging out here and it does draw pretty amazing crowds. Although it *is* Wilton, the crowds here are typically younger guys who come out to hang. The vibe is a lot more hip, as well. I give them 4/5 stars only because I've had one very negligent bartender who deliberately makes awful drinks for me. I guess he just really doesn't like me so I steer clear of him now.

Brunch buffet on Sunday. $14.50 includes made to order omelet, mimosa or Bloody Mary, many breakfast and lunch items on buffet line. This is a great place to go for a Sunday brunch buffet. It is not crowded and you get seated right away. It is not a party atmosphere. You can dine inside or outside. There is plenty of parking in the attached parking lot. There were many items on the buffet line. First, your server takes your omelet request. It is at least a 3 egg omelet with 4 toppings of your choice. On the buffet line they had other egg options too.....eggs Florentine, eggs and swiss cheese. The pancakes were my favorite. They had pecans in them. The French toast was orange flavored and good too. They also had ribs, roast pork, hash browns, sausage, bacon, onions and sausage, fish, corn bread with bacon and jalapeno, pineapple, strawberries, melon, muffins, shrimp, etc. This is a great value and good quality food for the price. I would definitetly return for this no hassle brunch.

This place is great after coming to this place The Village Pub is a thought. The bartenders were much more welcoming even though it seemed more of a venue for men and even the manager was welcoming. I had their specialty cucumber martini which was AMAZING! The bartender recommended gin and it was the greatest touch to the drink. My guest had their specialty Cosmopolitan which was purple and for the sweeter drinker's delight equally amazing. We also had food which is a must with alcohol. There Smoked Gouda Bites from The Hobos kitchen were to die for!! Conversation was great and even networked and became friends with several guest. Overall I will definitely choose Rumor verses The Village Pub.

I was here on a Saturday mid afternoon for a brief period of time. Except for the name, the place itself looks exactly the way it did when it was Matty's. This bar also has a menu for varied food items. The two ladies sitting in the table next to me ordered two salads which were very large and impressive. Both in the contents and food presentation. However, I wouldn't come here with the sole purpose to eat. Pretty much, after they got their salads, they had to fend for themselves. I had to help them myself when they needed something simple like pepper. I wanted to eat something light while here but, as with the two ladies, this would have required me to go to the crowded bar to place my order. No big deal really, just don't expect waiter service here. This was one of my stops of many. I had a Chocolate Martini which, as expected, was made to perfection. Also, as expected, the bar itself was pretty packed and well attended to. Things to note if you plan on coming here: * Parking - forget about it. That hasn't changed nor will it to my knowledge. It is a small shopping center with limited parking spaces. Your best bet if you plan on coming here is walking here. Just make sure one of the competing bars where you parked doesn't have a Towing Policy when they see you going to another bar. I'm not going to say any names (coughs... "Alibi") but, this policy is enforced at some places. Using Valet at one of the other bars is another option. * Wait Times - For a mid Saturday afternoon, they were pretty busy. Keep that in mind and be patient. * Construction - As of this review, "something" is being built in the corner. I will update this sentence once I know what it is. I did take a picture of the sign. * Best days to come here - Whenever they are open. Wednesdays are still popular here. That hasn't changed. Mingle while here. Unlike Miami, unless you are being overly obnoxious, anyone will gladly join in the conversation. Thank you Wilton Manors for that.

Great place to come in and have a drink. Especially on Wednesdays when it's only a buck. That right there deserves 5 stars!

Went to Rumors one Thursday night for ladies night and what a fun night it was! I pre-gamed across the street at Rosie's with some friends before heading over. We arrived around 11pm and the place was completely full, including the outside deck area. They had karaoke going on inside and there was a smaller bar all the way to the right that had music playing much lower so you could talk and not scream at people. Despite the amount of people there it was pretty easy to move around and not feel too crowded. I spent some time inside by the side bar mostly to take advantage of the a/c but most of the fun was going on outside on the deck area. They have tables and chairs set up out there and they were serving food that looked good but I didn't have any on my visit. They had some fans set up outside also to help deal with the Florida heat. Drinks were so cheap I thought I owed the bartender money the first round and my friend's quickly laughed at me lol. The drinks were 2-4-1 and they give you a poker chip to hold onto for your second drink. I was a very happy girl! The crowd was fun and despite some of the karaoke song choices (seriously stop singing sad songs! lol) I had a really fun night here. It's easily one of the more popular and fun places to hang out and have a good time in the Manor.

Walked into Rumors today (Cinco de Mayo) as an out of towner with no expectations, walked out with a belly full of unlimited tacos and three stiff cocktails for $20. Thanks Rumors! Absolutely loved the true mariachi band playing outside also. Hella cruisey spot in Wilton Manors with all kinds of folks.

Went into Rumors on a Thurs night around 6PM for a drink before meeting friends for dinner. The place was not busy, but the female bartender at the main bar was unfriendly & basically ignored me as I stood there waiting for a drink, after she passed me by a couple of times without even making eye contact (let alone even saying "hi, be with you in a min") I left & went down the street to Alibi... I know good help is hard to find, but this place sucks..last time I was here the waiter at the outside patio argued with me that my "top" chip wasn't good for Tanquary .. Well "I just had one inside" - he eventually said I was right after checking inside ..but no apology, nothing... They should put these losers thru some kind of customer service training.. Seems that Rumors is becoming more of a lesbian bar (since the one next door closed) judge ing by the crowd.. Too many other alternatives on Wilton. I've given up on this place!

It was my first time eating at Rumors today for the Sunday Brunch Buffet and I have to say that the food was pretty good and it was a great deal for the money. There were were several pasta dishes, some awesome beef ribs, eggs, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, peel and eat shrimp, and a whole bunch of other selections to choose from. It also came with a complimentary mimosa or bloody mary. The waiter (I think his name was Phil) was awesome as were the rest of the staff that I interacted with. It was great sitting outside to eat and there was a nice mix of people eating at the tables around us. It was also great that we only waited about 2 minutes to get a table. I will definitely be back.

Went for Sunday Brunch. Great deal for egg and meat dishes. Even has omelet station. Omelet was perfectly prepared. Friendly waiter for drink service. Plenty of coffee refills. Can sit inside or outside. Only reason not 5 stars as plain toast coasts extra and no egg white option at omelet station. I was not the only customer requesting this, so hope an option in the future.

Rumor is...uh....yeah, just the same as Matty's but with a better layout.

  • John R.

Blah! what a disappointment. everyone was going on and on about this place. thought we would check it out. nothing special. the layout is odd and the parking is next to impossible. it's location is the only thing going for it. i anticipate that rumors will eventually fade away like most of these types of bars. it's the new flavor of the month, but you have to make it worth coming back again and again.

Since my prior review covered Rumors bar itself and rated it as being what it is, a rather decent gay bar, I'll confine this update to their food. The good part is that Rumors now has a menu and is now serving food. The bad part is that what I've seen, the menu though complete isn't very descriptive and the food is of a lower quality as well as not being all that good. The basic chicken wings for example fail to note anything about a "Buffalo style," the fact that for an extra charge you can get them with traditional celery and blue cheese is unmentioned and when served you'll quickly discover the wings to be of a smaller lesser quality, somewhat akin in size to that of a fat pigeon wing but more like that of Sistrunk Street pigeon rather than the fatter Las Olas sized ones. They also have a "French dip on salted wick roll," an obvious take off on the indigenous Beef on Kimmelwick served in the Buffalo, New York region but which, though rather tasty, completely fails to measure up in any way with what it is attempting to duplicate not only from its misspelling of commonly the abbreviated roll which is "weck," not "wick," down to the salt and preparation of beef used. Though it would be a laughable disgrace if served near Buffalo, reasonably acceptable here as a Lauderdale bar food. What I do have to give them a degree of credit for is the completeness of their menu along with making a stab at some unique local novelty foods such as Gator Bites. All in all, their Philly styled cheese steak (chicken or beef) sandwiches, Turkey or Ham Clubs and Rubens are all OK, sort of Three Star as far as taste and quality, but nothing more, which I really can't condemn because for bar for its rather good, far better than served in most bars but then again certainly nothing to rave on about.

The food was good when first taken over by HoBo's but has gone down hill. Inconsistent and they couldn't cook a French fry right to save their lives. I'll go for drinks but won't eat there again.

I was a fan of this place back when it was called "Matty's on the Drive". On any given Friday or Saturday night, you could count on a lively crowd, attractive bartenders and staff and a simple "come as you are" bar with no particular theme or key demographic. I'd heard that Matty's was shuttered months ago due to a legal issue, and that someone else had taken it over and opened it as "Rumors". The newly named place looks similar, except that all the flags that once adorned the left wall of the main bar are gone and they've taken out about 1/3 of the wall that once separated the main bar and the second, smaller bar in the adjacent storefront. Aside from those few things, the place looks much the same, but there was one key thing that was missing on the recent Saturday night when a few of us visited this place: People! We arrived at around 10 p.m. when this place would've normally been full of patrons, with people pouring out into the lot in front when it was Matty's. When we arrived on this night, there were maybe 5 or 6 others at the bar, 1/2 dozen seated at tables out front and a few at the other side bars. Meanwhile, Alibi and Village Pub up the street were both packed. Also gone from Rumors were the attractive staff that once served Matty's customers, as were all the signs that once advertised the great drink specials that they had posted when this place was Matty's ($1 beers and well drinks on certain nights, etc.). What we did notice was a pungent smell that was reminiscent of a deli counter that sells cheeses and cold cuts. It wasn't a pleasant odor and it hit us when we walked in, wasn't something we got accustomed to, and when I went to use the restroom, that odor hit me as soon as I walked back out into the bar area. That's one of the reasons (along with the fact that this place was dead and there were other bars offering more attractive drink specials on this night) that caused us to finish our drinks and leave within about 15 minutes of our arrival here. Overall, I'm not sure what happened and why this place lost popularity. Change of ownership? People don't like the new name? Drink specials aren't as attractive as other places on Wilton Drive (Village Pub was offering 2 for 1 beers on this night, no such incentives here at Rumors)? Is it because there are a few newer places in this area and Matty's/Rumors is now old news? I don't know the answer, but I can tell you it was a bit sad to see how lifeless this place was compared to a few of the other bars on Wilton Drive on this night, and compared to what this place was like under its former owner(s). They need to get the magic back somehow, or Rumors may become a faded memory.

Great place to sit back and have a Bloody Mary and take in the sights, The prices are cheap and good drinks, There are snacks to go along with your drink at reasonable prices, parking is right out in front of their patio.

Great bar. Great service. Especially Brendan and Tyler. Halloween there was awesome. Stage set up with drag queen shows. Tons of people.

This bar has been reincarnated from Matty's and has clearly improved with the new owners . Great drink and food selections make this a good place for lunch , dinner or a snack .The atmosphere is friendly staff and a lot of activity. It has become my local pub and a place to meet friends .

Easily one of the best places to have a cocktail and kiki in Wilton Manors if you're under 40. Actually, it's probably the best place because they play good music and everyone is around my age (if you've never been out in Ft. Lauderdale, you may not get why I felt I needed to mention the age thing - everyone here is old). I'm not usually one to enjoy hanging out in a parking lot, but it's fine if there's a nice breeze and interesting people. Fortunately, that's usually how it goes here. For the most part you can still tell this used to be Matty's. They put down a new floor and threw new black paint on the walls. I'm okay with that - you don't come here for the decor.

Prob one of the few bars i kinda enjoy going to in wilton. The bartenders are great here. They put more of an effort into making there drinks then the other bars in the area.

I came here for only 10 minutes from a night of bar hopping, and this place is "all right". It attracts a lot of people all ages and is a good place to relax because it is your typical dive bar with wooden floors. The service here is quick. When I came that night, I noticed an old man chatting with a younger guy, so you may run into those unwanted conversations if you're not lucky.

This is without a doubt my new favorite place on the drive. They have better Sunday specials than anyone on the drive. Their food is cheap. They will let watch what you want. Service can be slow, but they are ironing out the kinks! Great Place!

Tried to have a cheeseburger at 9:30 pm. Waited 20 min. Bar staff was not interested in checking on the food more into selling additional drinks. If a bar is going to sell food they need to train their staff on how to wait on food customers. Shame, this could be a nice place.

I really LOVE Rumors, I think it is exactly what the drive needed in that location. The complete over haul of the interior is amazing. The staff is friendly and are on top of there game! I look forward to seeing how this newly established bar with such a wicked opening as they had continues to build and grow, hands down this place is going to be the best on the drive. Finally a friendly bar on the drive.. Thanks Rumors!

Drove from Miami for their advertised beer pong tournament that they didn't have. karaoke in one room that mixed with dance music from the other room to just make awful noise at the middle bar. Bartender Ryan was cute and friendly...that's the only reason to go to this bar.

Ok I've given the place a second third and fourth shot. The place opened a few months ago drink prices have risen steadily and prices are inconsistent between bartenders. Two weeks ago I joined friends for drinks and wings. An order of ten wings was $8.00 including several celery stalks and blue cheese dressing. This week we returned and now the 10 wings were now $8.99 and another up charge if .50 for blue cheese and another up charge of .50 for celery stalks. The bartender told us it was a recent change. Within 5 minutes the table next to us received their order of wings and we asked them if they were charged the additional .50 for celery and .50 for blue cheese. No up charge was charged to them The bartenders don't Know how to make consistent tasting drinks. They just pour till the drink looks like it should but has no taste that resembles what is ordered. What a shame. Theses are basic things and they can't get it right

It was ok. To me it was just the same old thing with a different sign above the door. Nothing special. Service was ok, crowd was a little older, prices were average for the drive..

Even if you are the only one who is ordering food, you will wait at least a half hour for a rare burger. Rare burger 30 minutes. Forget about condiments and the waiter checking up on you. Back room servers are what they are called. The Odor behind the bar keeps coming back. Where is Scotty and my bartenders, I miss them. The restroom, believe go outside or bring a clothes pin, no really. What a shame. Bye Rumors
